News Roundup—August 2025

  • Two University of Utah professors with no urban planning background and a need for speed, Daniel Mendoza and Mark Jansen, authored a poorly-researched paper that was used to sway policymakers against traffic calming, making claims with little to no support or data (Building Salt Lake, Full Paper Here).

  • Salt Lake City may not have a Transit to Trails program, but Park City has you covered for free! This summer/fall you can take the High Valley Transit 107 bus to Kimball Junction, and transfer to the Park City Transit 10X then 9 bus to get to Bonanza Flat trailhead to Bloods Lake. The regularly scheduled 9 bus was extended to Bonanza Flat and is new this year, upgraded from the reservation-only shuttle from last year, and it’s still bike friendly! (Park City Government). And even when driving into Park City, you can still minimize your time in traffic by utilizing the free park-and-ride lot at Richardson Flat, with high-frequency bus connections to Historic Main Street, the ski resorts and other destinations.

  • For every $1 invested into UTA, over $5 in economic value is generated (UTA)

We can live in a world where families feel safe biking with their children, or one where selfish, speeding drivers make it unsafe for all of us. We think that’s an easy choice.
