Bike/Walk 2025

  • Library Square 210 East 400 South Salt Lake City, UT, 84111 United States (map)

Hosting Organization: Sweet Streets

Our flagship event! The 4th annual Bike/Walk SLC will be centered at Library Square this year. We'll start with a walking tour of downtown utilizing mid-block walkways at 10 AM, take a break to explore the renovated library rooftop at 11:30 AM, then finish up with a biking tour looping the city from 12:30 - 2 PM. Everything will start and end at Library Square.

Walking Tour, 10 AM - 11:30 AM

Bike/Walk 2025 will kick off with a 1.5 mile walking loop through downtown’s midblock walkway network. This tour will demonstrate how human-scale modal filtering in the center of our city’s notoriously huge downtown blocks is the secret sauce that makes walkability possible (and conversely, why it feels so impossible to walk where mid-block walkways are absent). When mid-block walkways are done right, they tend to be some of the most precious and inviting spaces a city has. Come see for yourself on this walking tour!

Break/Rooftop Exploration, 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM

We’ll take a break from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM to let folks explore library square and head up to the Library’s recently reopened rooftop! The rooftop can be accessed from the Library’s interior stairs and elevator. This new public space provides stunning views of the city and mountains. Also stop by the recently opened Hugo Coffee in the library atrium for refreshments - it’s immediately to the left as you enter the south entrance from the center of Library Square.

Biking Tour, 12:30 PM to 2 PM

For the final segment of Bike/Walk 2025, we have an 11 mile, all-ages, all abilities critical mass biking loop around the city, showing off the latest traffic calming, protected bike lanes, and people-first connections in Salt Lake City. The route has a touch of everything - beautiful mid-block streets and parks you may not know existed, several neighborhood byway routes, new Livable Streets traffic calming and crossings, cut-throughs and natural modal filters, and new improved bike lanes. We’re excited to show off this pleasant and enjoyable loop of the city!
