Bike Streets Trip Report - SLC to Big Cottonwood
Did you know you can ride your bike from Salt Lake City all the way to the Big Cottonwood park and ride almost entirely on the low-stress bike network? We tested it out last month, and using a combination of bike paths, neighborhood streets, and signalized crossings, you can! The route is a little tricky through Holladay, but with the navigation in Bike Streets, it’s now a breeze. The only bottleneck is a ¾ mile section of Holladay Blvd that is unavoidable. The shoulder bike lanes aren’t the worst, but it’s definitely not comfortable. The pleasant neighborhood streets and the Big Cottonwood Trail more than make up for it, though!
Have you tried out the new SLC low-stress bike map through Bike Streets? We had 18 riders last week, contributing to 68 car trips replaced by biking. Even if you don’t need the mapping and navigation, ride with the app to bolster our numbers. It can help with our advocacy efforts down the line when we ask for funding for neighborhood byways and improved crossings!
