The event kicks off at 1pm at Loki Coffee, across from the new 9-line bike corridor on 900 South. Complimentary hot and iced coffee will be served on the patio from 1-2 p.m. as riders gather for the 7-mile semi-improvised loop. “The Dunbar Ride is a celebration of biking and Salt Lake’s vibrant public spaces,” said Lucas Matelich, co-founder of Unplugged, a Salt Lake based wellness company. “We’re inviting everyone to join us on this accessible ride, suitable for all levels of bikers.” Along the route, riders will experience a ‘secret vignette’ mid ride pause before arriving at the SLUG CAT, a fun focused alley-cat style race hosted by SLUG Magazine that starts at the Art Space Commons at 5 p.m. Festivities will culminate with an afterparty at the Art Space Commons, featuring food trucks, games, a DJ and outdoor dance party. “This event is about bringing the community together in a fun and inclusive way,” added Matelich. “We encourage costumes, all ages, and positive vibes. Jerks, however, are not welcome.”
The Dunbar Ride is a free event, but donations to benefit the incredible SLUG Magazine are encouraged. Full ride details can be found at tripsunplugged.net. Don’t miss this opportunity to get weird and celebrate the joy that is biking Salt Lake City.
