The Main Line

The Main Line would be an 8-mile, high-comfort bike route connecting people in four Salt Lake County cities with the clusters of housing, jobs and entertainment along Main Street and West Temple.

Much of the route exists today from Downtown Salt Lake City to Murray Park. But it’s not comfortable for families to ride with young children. It lacks an identity and wayfinding to let riders know they can opt to journey by bike.

Segments of the Main Line, which is already in multiple regional and local plans, pass by thousands of housing units, employers big and small, shops, restaurants, bars and breweries. With some imagination, it could be a safe, regional route for anyone traveling by bike from Downtown, through South Salt Lake and Millcreek and well into Murray.

But it needs your help.

How You Can Help.

Spread the word.

We need to spread awareness that a route exists today. There are businesses you can visit from Salt Lake City to Murray that could use your support, and are easily reached by bike.

Contact Your Representatives.

This type of campaign requires coordination between multiple agencies in multiple cities. We’re working on that. But you can also make sure your mayor and members of your City Council are aware of your interest by sending them a cordial note about it.
